From what I can infer, there’s at least two reasons:
1. It would make the NYT very unhappy 2. It would bring you down from the high and mighty realm of commentators that reign from above. You would lose your status as a commentator. You would fall from on high down to where the rest of us muck around, never to return to the “world’s greatest ivory tower”…
