US slaps tariffs on Chinese solar panels, Europe business also pissed, WTO battle ensues
…and the population isn’t asked whether solar panels should be a huge freaking priority, regardless of who’s producing them!
Seriously - I can’t stand to see the government make vague hints about the importance of green energy, and then keep cheap green energy OUT of the country, made by those who are willing to produce it… protecting their local solar producers, but also protecting their dependence on fossil fuel industries…
Can someone please enlightenment me? or support me? this is ridiculous. WTO cares about trade, nation-states, corporate agendas, not people’s priorities. Prove me wrong…
Pakistan loses Iran’s mango market
KARACHI: Pakistani fruit exporters have lost a lucrative market in neighbouring Iran, where at least 30,000 tons of mango were exported previously, as a result of the trade embargo imposed by the United Nations on Tehran.
With the loss of this market, the exporters could not export around $10 million worth of mango during the current season, said Waheed Ahmed, Co-chairman of Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters, Importers and Merchants Association in a statement on Monday. (complete article)
Another way how US handling of world affairs is hurting Pakistani economy.
Sanctions suck.
Global capitalism can also UNdrink your milkshake. This time, it’s mango flavored.
USA: “DO WHAT I SAY, PAKISTAN!”

Obama Trade Deal Worse Than NAFTA
“As a candidate, Obama promised to renegotiate NAFTA, the trade deal that has undermined workers and the environment. Now leaks of negotiations with eight Pacific countries reveal Obama’s intention to out-NAFTA NAFTA.
The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) deal has been negotiated in secret (except for 600 corporate advisors). The TPP would:
—reward outsourcing of jobs to lower-wage countries;
—give foreign corporations immunity from U.S. laws;
—allow foreign corporations to challenge U.S. laws in foreign (secret) tribunals; and
—wipe out national protections for workers or the environment.”
…I am also grateful for “corporate social responsibility” and the “ethical supply chain”
In related news, the New York Times at least acknowledges many of the problems of Apple’s suppliers in China.
