nice expanded pyramid of capitalism from CrimethInc.
Somebody give me their book "Work" for Christmas
Ironically, looks like their book had some printing troubles, and the binding of the book comes undone quite easily. Cue multiple puns regarding shoddy ”work” done on a pro-labor group. Wonder who did their publishing…

Obama tours Honeywell (reporter silenced for questioning its labor practices) PHOTO OP! Kim Jong-il-esque

Reporter Mike Elk got a microphone ripped from his hands during a press conference while asking Honeywell CEO about shady labor practices at his company.

Obama went to tour the plant, had this picture-perfect photo op:

This just looks so staged. The US propaganda department needs to step it up. Only the late, great Kim Jong-il could match the staged-ness.

…by “great”, I mean, only great at taking staged pictures. Also great at oppressing millions of people

Wow, this is too much fun. Check out "Kim Jong-il looking at things" meme

“But the profit of capital consists in what the worker can produce in surplus to his living. The more value he produces and the less the value of what he consumes, the larger is the surplus-value seized by capital. Hence his life-necessities are reduced, his standard of life is lowered as much as possible, his hours are increased, the tempo of his work is accelerated.” Anton Pannekoe, Workers’ Councils, 1947

"Documentary on labor rights in Azerbaijan: Without hands…"

In the “poorest” nations in the world, how can we advance labor right?

Companies will complain of low profit margins, that they are “unable” to comply with developed-world safety standards
Governments will say they don’t have the resources to enforce labor standards

As it is in most poor, “developing” nations, lack of resources is considered a major obstacle to fulfilling labor rights and for prosperity in general.

So how can we be sure, in a resource-poor country, that safety standards are upheld, work hours are manageable, and workers renumeration will be fair and expected to rise…??

One major resource is not being tapped in these countries: people power. Freely organized labor.

Worker organization is free - it doesn’t cost a thing. It is the maturation of the primary force, the human force, that drives forward real development, development that is based in human values of equality, freedom and democracy, and not about GDP, profit, and control…

In the dire economic conditions of the poorest countries of the world, the power of free organization is, perhaps, the greatest and most essencial resource that drives development. Power to the people. Take control of our lives.

Thank you, Andy SingerThis is EXACTLY what I was thinking as the debates raged around attacks on public employee unions.

Scott Walker get’s Mic Checked!

This is too good…

My favorite part is when the speaker goes “hey hey hey hey hey,” as if he’s a middle school teacher shushing children

…as if they would all suddenly stop and look at him all guilty like, and say, “oh, gosh, we’re sorry, we were getting out of hand…” :(

Not gonna happen
